Education, Encouragement & Empowerment
Those three little words can make or break someones success when it comes to their nutrition program. When looking for a good nutrition program/coach, it is important that all of the following components be included:
Education - There is much confusion as to what to eat or not to eat. Balance, variety and moderation should be the mantra of a good nutrition program. All foods can fit, and learning how to balance a busy lifestyle with good nutrition is the key to long-term success. A good nutrition coach will incorporate education as part of their program. Learning the hows and whys to eat is more beneficial than simply being told what to do. Once a person is able to understand and appreciate the basics of nutrition, it will make their day to day navigation of shopping, cooking and dining out that much easier.
Encouragement - When a person begins their journey to better health, invariably they will encounter some pitfalls. Old habits can be hard to break, and depending on the amount of support they have at home, can sometimes weaken even the strongest resolve. A good nutrition coach can help you navigate the emotional aspect of change on your path to better health.
Empowerment - This is probably the most important of the three "E's." When a person is given the authority or the power to do something, in this case, take control of their life, this will make them stronger and more confident. When a person has the confidence he or she needs to make change, that is the first step in taking control of their life and claiming their right to be healthy.
